A few months back, we had to take the dog to a new groomer. I had been a bad doggie mommy and he needed a hair cut in a serious way. We dropped him off in a village on the outside of Kaiserslaturn, and she said he would be done in on hour. Hmm, we live 30 minutes away, not a good idea to go home. I wasn’t really in the mood to try to shop with the kids. Then I remembered a small pond near the Kaiserslaturn Zoo, which wasn’t far away. So off we drove to find the pond and take a short nature walk.
What a wonderful hour we had enjoying the beautiful outdoors. There are several paved paths around a few small ponds with lots of widlife for us to enjoy.
The high light of the walk was the baby ducklings we saw right on the edge of the pond near the path. My kids loved watching them! They were so very cute. When a group of men came walking by, my kids were sushing them to not scary away the baby ducklings. It was quite and peaceful, just what we needed a little of.
I’m thankful for days like these, where I can just enjoy my kiddos and cherish the time I have to spend with them. They were extra cute this day, being sweet to each other and just loving the spontaneious adventure. Need to get out of the house with the kiddos? Want a peaceful place to walk? Check out this area near the Kaiserslaturn Zoo.

Sometimes the outings that haven’t been planned end up being the most memorable – sounds like you had a lovely afternoon!
We have had such a busy scheduled summer, I think I maybe regreting it just a bit. This was a great afternoon with my kids. Good memories for me. One more week till school starts!
