Let’s face it, traveling with kids is nothing like traveling without kids. Our son Aedan is six and our daughter Emma is four. Michael, my husband, and I decided long ago that traveling with kids was better than not traveling at all. We are a military family, and have already moved from California, to Guam, and now to Germany, with many side adventures along the way.
In their short lives they have stood by the giant sequoias at Yosemite National Park, strolled through the vineyards at Napa Valley, played in the snow at Lake Tahoe, lived in the middle of the pacific on Guam, held a koala bear in Australia, climbed The Great Wall of China, watched the fireworks at Cinderella’s castle, and watched Old Faithful blow at Yellowstone National Park, and recently stood at the Berlin Wall, just to name a few things.
And now we are here, with Europe at our front door. We are no experts at traveling, I’m aware of that. But we have survived many long flights, car rides, and moves from one side of the globe to the other. So many things to see and do in the next four years, I just want to share with others our experiences and hopefully inspire others to pick up and go, even with their small kids. I encourage my fellow travelers to comment freely and offer up your suggestions and tips for any of our destinations. I look forward to sharing our adventures and misadventures as we explore Europe!!
Brilliantly written darling! What great parents you are to expose your children to the wonderful things this world has to offer!
Hey there! Welcome to the blogging and twitter world of travel! Glad you found me and my blog http://www.toeuropewithkids.com. I write a lot about Germany since my mother’s from there. Looking forward to hearing about your travels!
Sonja thank you so much for the warm welcome to the travel blog community, it warms my heart! I stumbled upon your blog while looking for a name for mine a while ago, and since then you’ve been a “role model” for me along with Lisa at http://www.gonewiththefamily.com/ I’m excited to share all the great adventures they have in Europe, and so very thankful for the opportunity to live here for at least 4 years.
I am so glad I stumbled on to your blog, Crystal! I grew up in Guam and still have a lot of family and friends there. You’re the first blogger I’ve read who’s actually lived in my old “home” too =) San Diego is home now. How lucky for you to be stationed in Germany and have Europe in your backyard. I am looking forward to reading your adventures with the kids. Sending you a warm “Hafa adai”. Welcome to the travel blogging world! Lisa and Sonja are travel blogging buddies too.
Hafa adai!!
I always wanted to blog about things around Guam, but never was able to find the time. I did a few blog post on a family site only. Living on the island was an experience, I’m thankful we had the opportunity. I’m glad you found my blog too! I’m going to check yours out now!
